The Marine Corps Tactics and Operations Group (MCTOG) mission is to provide standardized advanced training and certification to Ground Combat Element (GCE) Operations Officers, Operations Chiefs, and select other GCE training specialists in GCE operations, combined arms planning and integration, and unit readiness planning at the company, battalion, and regiment levels to support GCE Training and Readiness (T&R) events.
The MAGTFTP Exercise Designer Force Fire SME will provide multi-discipline expertise across all spectrums of Force Fires and Effects to include organic and external supporting arms, aviation fire support, Naval Gun Fire support, and associated processes of joint and combined prioritized target lists. Candidate will be responsible to integrate both lethal and non-lethal effects into planning processes and applicable scenario events. In accordance with direction from the Exercise Support Scenario Developer, craft storylines and threads which create realistic adversaries for units undergoing training to respond.
Possess in-depth understanding of service Fires and Effects processes, procedures and capabilities as well as how these processes must operate against conventional versus asymmetric enemies.
Remain informed of combined and joint fires systems upgrades and Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTP) changes; adjust exercise data and processes as required.
Institute, manage, and supervise the C2 Fires processes built into the exercise design mechanism.
Provide proactive technical advice to Information Management Officers, Exercise Control Cell, and Communication Division.
Develop geographically correct and reality based threat network storylines, threads and injects to facilitate MAGTF operations for inclusion into Master Scenarios Events List (MSEL) during Mission Rehearsal Exercises.
Assist in exercise product development utilizing Fires C2 processes; develop and provide instruction for C2 Fires and MAGTF Fires processes; perform as a C2 Fires response cell role ISO exercises.
Assist in providing an overview of the tactical scenario construct to Fires and Effects for development of supporting products, data repositories and configurations, and systems integration.
Participate in exercises as required.
Perform as a HICON and expert response cell role ISO exercises for C2/Fire Support System Support, manning and operating six (6) AFATDS terminals for up to 12 hours per day beginning (15) days prior to the first exercise and lasting through TMIC completion.
Provide support for formal learning programs and Battle Staff Training simultaneously.
Contributes to exercise orders, CONOPs, and operations process cycles across all six warfighter functions and social media.
Knowledge and Skills
Experience in managing integrated and comprehensive fire support systems in support of combat operations or full-spectrum simulated military exercises.
Excellent written and oral communications skills.
Must demonstrate a good attitude and ability to work as a member of a team.
Possess self-motivation and a high level of discretion to work effectively under a minimum level of supervision.
Must be able to multi-task efficiently, work in a fast paced environment on multiple projects, and have a strong attention for detail.
Experience and Education
Bachelor-s degree in a relevant field and 15 years of experience with specialized training required to include supporting arms expert or supervising fire control processes at Higher Headquarters Control (HICON); 20 plus years of experience preferred.
Career Level School (Expeditionary Warfare School (EWS) and Operations Tactics Instructor Officer (OTIO), Command and Staff, or service equivalent is preferred for those with an officer background. USMC Staff NCO Academy, Infantry Unit Leader Course (IULC), Operations Tactics Instructor Chief (OTIC), or service equivalent is preferred for those with an enlisted background.
U.S. Marine Corps or US Army officer/SNCO experience with one or more deployments to expeditionary or contingency operations required.
Knowledge of Joint and USMC targeting processes required.
Deployments to OIF/OEF highly preferred.
Experience with Unix (Solaris) and Windows Operating Systems desired.
Experience with operations centers, planning cells and operational planning teams desired.
Experience at the Battalion, Regiment, Division, MEF, and Joint levels desired.
Experience with Interagency and other governmental entities preferred.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Garrison work environment including but not limited to:
occasional field/tactical environments
occasional extended working hours will be required
schedule: M-F 0700 to 1700
May be required to travel OCONUS to conduct installation, training or maintenance. Accordingly, a valid passport required.
Domestic travel may be required estimated to be up to 30% of the time for training and program coordination.
