Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking a senior-level Drafter & Designer to join us in Canoga Park, CA (Los Angeles area).

This position will provide support to our Engineering community on technical projects and/or products, maintaining, organizing, compiling, and manipulating technical data up to and including editing Creo 2.0 CAD models and associative engineering drawings where required for release using Windchill PLM System version 10. Investigates and makes recommendations to enhance product definition for compliance and conformity to established standards, specifications, and design directives; and may prepare contractually required data submission.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

Working under minimal supervision, this position operates as a Product Definition/Facilitator and performs professional assignments requiring complete working knowledge of application of concepts, practices, and techniques.

40% - Assist and function as a prime contact/expert for designers with issues that arise when creating and releasing drawings/models. Develop cross-functional relationships with other teams and disciplines to maximize communication to ensure on time product definition release.

30% - CREO: Create and manage engineering orders and tasks for CREO drawings, models and supporting documents to meet configuration management requirements. Support designers utilizing CREO for drawing updates or revisions with minor administrative corrections or note changes. Create and route Team Product Documents in Windchill to support hardware testing and delivery.

10% - Performs assignments that typically have specified objectives and require investigation of a limited number of variables to exceed program delivery/release. Support the creation and maintenance of Standard Notes to support product definition.

10% - Create and maintain databases of drawing packages for daily status utilizing MS Excel to ensure the programs are meeting their program demand dates. Host and/or Attend daily-weekly program team status meetings.

10% - Windchill: Train new designers and team members in conjunction with our standard engineering processes across all sites.


Requires an Associate's degree in an appropriate discipline and 6 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

US Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
