Google Senior Design Program Manager in Palo Alto, California

The Nest UX team is looking for a highly skilled program manager to manage feature development and production of user experience and user interface design across mobile web applications and hardware products. This position works closely with the numerous technical program and project managers to coordinate efforts across concurrent launch cycles.

The work:

  • Drive broad product initiatives within and between UX UI, ID, product management, legal, marketing and engineering teams on products of high technical complexity

  • Coordinate apps and device software build releases with internal stakeholders

  • Develop strategy for engaging UX UI team with numerous engineering teams

  • Present progress to team and executives

  • Prioritize feature definition, plan UX design research and implementation, and drive execution

  • Manage external vendors, contractors, and developers as needed to support product deliverables

  • Manage technical and non-technical external requirements, issue tracking, and escalation

Minimum qualifications:

  • BA BS degree or equivalent practical experience

  • 5 years experience with software program management

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience managing interactive, design, and or creative projects (hardware and software experience)

  • Experience managing deliverables for technical projects or products

  • Ability to understand and discuss technical topics, requirements, and limitations related to software development

  • Experience in allocating team members accordingly against shifting priorities

  • Experience with bug tracking software, apps release processes, and software support needs

  • Ability to drive feature definition from ambiguity

  • Resolve team conflicts, negotiate priorities across work streams

  • Very strong verbal, written, and organizational skills

  • Passion, commitment to product excellence, and practical sense of how to get it done

  • Personnel management experience a plus

  • Thinks quickly and is calm under pressure
