Sr. Interaction Designer
VMware’s End User Computing User Experience Team is looking for a talented senior interaction designer to join our team and help us create the next generation of products for our organization. You will work hand-in-hand with product managers to define product requirements and innovate new and meaningful ways to accomplish them. You will own the complete user experience for your products and will interact with various internal and external stakeholders, customers, marketing, and multidisciplinary development teams to bring your vision to market. You would be expected to identify requirements, develop user models, create wireframes and process flows to communicate your vision, prototype user interfaces for interaction validation, lead end user focus groups, develop and maintain user interface specifications and guidelines, and resolve design trade-offs and implementation issues. You will learn about your end users through interviews, research and observation and will be expected to represent and defend them at all times. You will become a subject matter expert with the ability to understand the latest technology, solution, market trends, as well as competitive offerings related to end user computing products.
Above all, must play well and be able to collaborate effectively with others.
6+ years Interaction Design or equivalent experience designing software applications for enterprise, commercial desktop or web-based products.
Must love the challenge of quickly distilling complex problems into elegant, intuitive solutions.
Demonstrable ability to create clear detailed design and interaction specifications.
Strong skills in leading design discussions, "white boarding" sessions, and run meetings.
First-hand experience in applying user-centered design processes and methodologies to development of commercial software products. (we will want to see wireframes, documentation, and models).
Experience following brand standards and UX patterns
Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills.
Agile, adaptable, and capable of delivering new products and features.
Innovative and able to think outside the box.
Obsessive attention to detail.
Portfolio of recent work available for review
Visual design skills are a plus.
Skilled in the use of Adobe Illustrator and other Creative Suite/Cloud products, Sketch, Invision and other comparable tools.
BS/BA or higher degree in Human Factors or HCI, Cognitive Psychology, Product Design, or equivalent work experience.
